Beacon’s commitment to giving back

While our ethical approach supports fair access to credit, we also care deeply for our
planet.
We know our members expect more from us as an ethical business. As a not-for-profit, we
don’t look to make as much money as possible. We provide a service and then use those
funds to give back to our members and other causes we believe in.

One of these methods is through our partnership with Just One Tree. We sponsor planting
a tree for every new member who joins us or every dormant member who reactivates their
account

The difference one tree makes

Trees play a crucial role in keeping our planet healthy and thriving. Without them, the soil
loses nutrients, water levels decrease and wildlife disappears.

One tree may seem like a drop in the ocean (well, forest), but its impact is great.
A single mature tree can produce enough oxygen in a season for ten people to inhale in a
year. And in a tropical rainforest, one tree can house up to 2,000 species of insects, birds,
amphibians, reptiles, mammals, fungi and plants – that’s quite the party!
Trees help to regulate local climates. They filter the sun’s radiant energy, reduce wind
speeds and cool the air. Trees also lock in greenhouse gases, removing them from the
atmosphere.
We’re really excited about our partnership with Just One Tree.

The more successful we are, the more trees that will be planted. It’s a win-win for the
planet and our members.
